How we scope the work
We evaluate leaf depth, total collection area, obstacles, access, and disposal requirements. A property with mature trees and trapped leaf piles can require much more handling than an open lawn with the same square footage.
When leaf season actually hits in Parker County
North Texas doesn't drop leaves all at once the way the northeast does. Post oaks and live oaks hold on well past the first cold snap, and pecans drop over weeks rather than days. In practice that means late October through early December, with the heaviest stretch usually mid-November.
Two things follow from that. First, one cleanup in October rarely finishes the job — the trees aren't done yet. Second, waiting until everything is down means wet, matted leaves that have been sitting on the grass through a couple of rains, which takes longer and costs more.
Why it matters beyond looks
A heavy leaf layer left over winter smothers Bermuda and St. Augustine, holds moisture against the crowns, and gives fungal problems somewhere to overwinter. What shows up as thin, patchy grass the following April often started as leaves left on the lawn in December.
Leaves packed into gutters, drains and low spots are the other half of it. That's where a fall cleanup overlaps with drainage work — water that can't get away sits against foundations and beds all winter.
How we schedule it
Most properties do best on two visits: one mid-season once the bulk is down, and a final pass after the last of it drops. Heavily treed lots sometimes want three. Properties already on recurring mowing get leaves handled as part of the visit through the season, which is usually the cheaper route.
Booking early matters more in fall than any other season. Once the leaves are down across the whole county, everyone calls in the same two weeks.
Acreage and heavy lots
A quarter-acre yard and five acres of pecans are different jobs. Large properties, deep drifts along fence lines and anything that's been left through a season or two are closer to a full property cleanup than routine leaf work, and get scoped that way.
